Roma Downey Unveils Little Angels
I recently had the pleasure of attending an event in New York City to hear Roma Downey (Touched By An Angel) discuss her new project – something she is heavily invested in – Little Angels.
The Little Angels animated DVD series comes in three volumes – Little Angels ABC’s, Little Angels Animals and Little Angels 1, 2, 3’s – and was created for pre-school aged children to teach practical learning skills like ABCs and numbers.
The series follows pre-school twins Alex and Zoe who are blessed to have eight Little Angels watching over them. The Little Angels live on the ceiling of their bedroom, painted there so they are the first things the kids see when they wake up in the morning and the last thing they see before they fall asleep at night. The angels come to life when the children need them most and help guide them through the challenges of their lives.
“I wanted to create a children’s series that reminded parents and grandparents that angels are always looking over our children,” Downey said. “Sometimes you hear celebrities or actresses that are attached to projects and they come and just stick their names on it. This is not that. This is a series that has grown out of my own heart, something that is near and dear to me and I believe in.
“It’s really been a beautiful labor of love these past 18 months of developing and finding writers and animators,” she said. “I don’t have a film, I don’t have a TV series. I’m going straight to DVD and that’s a challenge – how do we get to reach the parents.
“I know it’s a quality product. I know that once families discover this they’ll be grateful for it.”
