Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes are getting a divorcing, after five years of marriage.

“This is a personal and private matter for Katie and her family,” said Holmes’s attorney Jonathan Wolfe to People. “Katie’s primary concern remains, as it always has been, her daughter’s best interest.”

The pair wed in November 2006 and have one daughter, Suri.

This was the first marriage for Holmes and was Cruises third. He was previously married to Nicole Kidman, with whom he has two kids – Isabella and Conor, and Mimi Rogers.

DVD Review: Louie Season 2

Never has a show since Flight of the Conchords moved me, frustrated me and kept me laughing till the wee hours of the night like Louie has.

The comedian gives you an insight in his life, but also highlights what it means to be a plain guy living in New York, who’s also juggling parenthood and his career.

If you haven’t seen the first season, then STOP READING THIS and watch it now! No, there are no forthcoming spoilers, but the show is just too funny and witty to miss.

Louie follows Louis C.K., a New York stand-up comic and single parent of two young daughters. The show is loosely based on his life.

Every episode is a gem, especially “Oh Louie/Tickets” and “Subway/Pamela” – my two favorite standouts.

This season also features a slew of guest stars such as Ricky Gervais and Joan Rivers.

What I love about the show is that it’s full of uncomfortable moments and hilarious antics – who doesn’t love awkward situations?

The DVD also features extras, including a number of commentaries.

DVD Review: Missing

mIt’s not everyday you see and action-filled, face-paced show like Missing.

The ABC show was a nice treat, especially when comedies reigned weeknights.

Missing follows Becca Winstone (Ashley Judd), a retired CIA agent and widow, who has an 18 year-old-son named Michael.

Michael gets accepted into a summer program in Rome and when Becca doesn’t hear from him for a week, she leaves for Rome and gets caught up in an international conspiracy with links to her old life.

I can’t imagine anyone but Judd playing this role. She really brings Becca to life and proves once more that she can be an action star.

I’ll never understand why ABC continually cancels good shows.

Missing was unlike anything on TV and it’s sad we’ll never see what else it had to offer.

DVD Review: GCB

Let the claws come out!

Nowadays, TV is all about satire – think The Office and Modern Family. That’s what great about GCB. THe show was entertaining and funny-as-hell to watch, filled with soap-inspired drama.

Who doesn’t want to watch rich, hypocritical women who backstab their friends?

GCB follows a disgraced and widowed former high school mean girl named Amanda (Leslie Bibb) who returns home to Dallas. Her husband was involved in a ponzi scheme and is killed along with his mistress in a car wreck while running away from an apparent investigation involving his crimes.

Back at home, Amanda must deal constantly with the now vicious and powerful adult versions of the girls she savaged in high school.

There’s Cricket Caruth-Reilly (Miriam Shor), a ball-busting businesswoman with a closeted gay husband; Sharon Peacham (Jennifer Aspen), a chubby insecure housewife who won’t stop eating her feelings away; and of course Carlene Cockburn (Kristin Chenoweth), who lives across the street and is always in Amanda’s business.

It’s a shame that GCB was cancelled so soon.

I loved everything about the show and always looked forward to each episode.

The ensemble worked well and there’s no doubt that the cast is clearly very talented.

Although there won’t be a second season, definitely run out and get the Complete First Season. It includes bonus materials. Who doesn’t want to know how to get big Texas hair?

NYGossipGirl Exclusive Interview: Steve Carell

NYGossipGirl recently had the pleasure of chatting with Steve Carell via Skype about his new film Seeking a Friend for the End of the World.

The film tells the story of a man who finds himself alone after his wife leaves in a panic after news erupts of an asteroid about to hit the Earth. He decides to take a road trip to reunite with his high school sweetheart and finds comfort in a neighbor (Keira Knightley) who helps him on his journey.

To say this was our favorite interview to date is an understatement. Carell is not only hilarious in front of the camera, but behind it as well.

Check out the interview below where Carell talks about what he would do if he only had a few weeks left on earth, whether or not he’ll come back to The Office and the status of Anchorman 2!

NYGG: Can you talk about that opening scene and filming it with your wife on your anniversary?

Carrell: Yeah, it was literally our wedding anniversary. She’s playing my wife and we get the news of the end of the world and she pulls out of the car. She also shots me this look, which frankly, I’m not unfamiliar with. It’s a scary, dagger eye look. It was fun, though. It was nice to spend our anniversary together.

NYGG: If there were only 2-3 weeks left before the end of the world, where would you go and what would you hope to find?

Carrell: Certainly, I would be foraging for junk food. Things like Twinkies and Ho-Hos. Nutrition is not [important], who cares.

NYGG: What would your playlist be like?

Carrell: Maybe to actually bring it up a little bit, some Sheryl Crow or maybe some Taylor Swift, to feel a little fuzzy inside.

Check out the rest of NYGossipGirl’s interview with Steve Carell after the jump! (more…)
