Daniel Day Lewis Wins Best Actor Award for Lincoln

Daniel Day Lewis picked up the Best Actor award for his portrayal in Steven Spielberg’s Lincoln.

“Sincerest thanks to the Hollywood Foreign Association. Steven Spielberg, a humble master with a quicksilver imagination. As a friend, loving and kind and by your generosity – a partner. You have given me an experience that I will treasure all my life. Thank you” he said during her acceptance speech.

Richard Gere (Arbitrage), John Hawkes (The Sessions), Joaquin Phoenix (The Master) and Denzel Washington (Flight) were also nominated.

Jessica Chastain: Best Actress in a Drama Winner

Jessica Chastain received the Best Actress in a Drama for her role in Zero Dark Thirty.

“I’ve auditioned and struggled and fought and been put in the sidelines for years. To receive this is a huge honor. Thank you to our amazing crew and cast. To Kathryn Bigelow, my director – I can’t help but compare my character to you. You have said filmmaking for you is not about braking gender roles, but you have done more for women in cinema then you have taken credit for,” she said during her acceptance speech.

Marion Cotillard (Rust & Bone), Helen Mirren (Hitchcock), Naomi Watts (The Impossible) and Rachel Weisz (The Deep Blue Sea) were also nominated.

Hugh Jackman Wins Best Actor Award for Les Miserables

Hugh Jackman won the Best Actor in a Comedy or Musical award for his role in Les Miserables.

“Les Miserables is a project of passion. It took a lot of courage to make it.  Thank you to Tom Hooper, without whom this wouldn’t happen. My wife, she’s the greatest woman in the world. Baby, thank you for always being right,” Jackman said during his acceptance speech.

Jack Black (Bernie), Bradley Cooper (Silver Linings Playbook), Bill Murray (Hyde Park on Hudson) and Ewan McGregor (Salmon Fishing on the Yemen) were also nominated.

Ben Affleck: Golden Globes Best Director Winner

Ben Affleck nabbed the Best Director award for his film Argo, during the 70th Annual Golden Globes.

“I really have to thank the cast and crew for this movie. I had an amazing cast – they were extraordinary. I want to thank my three kids and my wife. I adore you, I love you so much – you’re my everything,” Affleck said during his acceptance speech.

Affleck beat out Kathryn Bigelow (Zero Dark Thirty), Ang Lee (Life of Pi), Steven Spielberg (Lincoln) and Quentin Tarantino (Django Unchained).

Lena Dunham Wins Golden Globes Best Actress Award for Girls

Girls actress Lena Dunham won the Golden Globes Best Actress award for her role in the highly popular HBO show.

“I wanted to start to say that the other nominees have inspired me deeply – I worship them,” she said during her speech.

Dunham beat out Zooey Deschanel (New Girl), Tina Fey (30 Rock), Julia Louis-Dreyfus (Veep) and Amy Poehler (Parks and Recreation).

Claire Danes Garners Golden Globe for Homeland

Claire Danes received the Best Actress in a Television Series Drama award for her role in Showtime’s Homeland.

“I want to thank my cast who are at this point my extended family. And speaking of family, I admitted to everyone on our show that I was with child. They were all so supportive. I have to thank my son now, Cyrus for joining me throughout the whole process,” she said during her acceptance speech.

Danes beat out Connie Britton (Nashville), Glenn Close (Damages), Michelle Dockery (Downton Abbey) and Julianna Margulies (The Good Wife).

Anne Hathaway won the Best Supporting Actress award during the 70th Annual Globes  Golden Globes Awards for her role as Fantine in Tom Hooper’s Les Miserables.

“Omigosh, this is happening. Thank you for this lovely blunt object I will forever use as a weapon for self-doubt. Thank you for putting my work in this category with these gutsy actresses. I have to thank your cast who are fearless,” she said during her acceptance speech.

Amy Adams (The Master), Sally Field (Lincoln), Helen Hunt (The Sessions) and Nicole Kidman (The Paperboy) were also nominated.

Jennifer Lawrence Nabs Best Actress Award for Silver Linings Playbook

Jennifer Lawrence won the Golden Globes Best Actress Award in a Comedy or Musical for her role in the critically acclaimed film, Silver Linings Playbook.

“What does it say, ‘I beat Meryl,’” she joked during her acceptance speech. “Harvey (Weinstein) thank you for having killed whoever you had to, to get me up here today.”

Lawrence beat out Emily Blunt (Salmon Fishing in the Yemen), Judi Dench (The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel), Maggie Smith (Quartet) and Meryl Streep (Hope Springs).
