America Ferrera is in Denial of ‘Ugly Betty’ Cancellation

ABC canceled Ugly Betty, but America Ferrera doesn’t want to let go of her character just yet. She’s starring next on the big screen in Our Family Wedding. Here’s what she told Parade magazine:

On saying goodbye to Ugly Betty:

“I’ve lived with this character who I’ve loved from day one and I have only grown to feel more connected to her and also responsible for making sure her journey is a complete one. Her entire journey was about a transformation, kind of coming into her womanhood and owning herself both physically and emotionally. It’s hard to say goodbye. I haven’t really started going there yet because I still have four episodes to shoot. So I’m staying in denial for now and I’ll deal with all those emotions in a little bit. I imagine that when we finally wrap it’s not going to be a dry-eyed goodbye.”

On growing up thanks to the show:

“I never really pictured myself being on television. I couldn’t imagine a world coming along that would entice me enough to sign away years and years of my life to one character. Then Betty came around. I was 21 when I started and I’ve learned so much and grown so much as a person. It has to be about believing in what you’re doing.”

Mulligan said that she’s not ready for the Academy Awards, taking place on March 7.

“It’s beyond wild. I haven’t got a dress or speech planned. I haven’t got any of that stuff yet!”

So what’s her favorite part about being nominated for Best Actress?

“It is beyond crazy to be up against Meryl Streep. She is the best actor on the planet. So it is really hard not to be overawed. Meryl Streep is the queen!”

Kate Winslet Keeps Her Oscar in the Bathroom

Kate Winslet keeps her Oscar in a special place – her bathroom!

Winslet won the Best Actress award last year for her performance in The Reader and said that she keeps the golden statuette in the bathroom so her guests “can sneakily have a little [hold] and put it back down again.”

She said:

“Basically everybody wants to touch it, everybody wants to hold it and go ‘Oh, my gosh,’ and ‘How heavy is it?’ So I figured if I put it [in there], then people can avoid the whole, ‘Where’s your Oscar?’ thing.”

The 34-year-old shared that she loves to dress up during awards season.

“It’s great to wear lovely dresses and to just experience those moments of dress up, especially as a mum, because you get so few moments to feel good in your own skin and wear a lovely gown.”

Scarlett Johansson: Planning Wedding Was Like Doing a ‘Drug Deal’

Scarlett Johansson, who rarely talks about her marriage to Ryan Reynolds, told David Letterman a little about what it was like to plan her wedding.

During the Late Show, the 25-year-old said:

“Where we got married there were bears and whales and eagles. I never thought that I’d be planning my wedding in a dark alley somewhere, but it turned out that way. It was really quite secretive and I felt like I was doing a drug deal — without all the fun.”

She also said that she married Reynolds in a very remote part of Canada (Vancouver Island in British Columbia).

Johansson recently made her Broadway debut in Arthur Miller’s A View From the Bridge.

Emily Blunt: ‘Twitter is Awful’

Emily Blunt is not a big fan of twitter and says that she won’t be joining the social-networking site because she doesn’t want to “bore” her fans.

She told People magazine:

“Twitter is literally the most awful thing. It’s mind-numbingly boring to hear about people’s adventures at the gas station. I couldn’t care less.”

The Wolfman star, however, is addicted to reality TV.

“I like Project Runway at the moment. I love that show. I love Heidi Klum. Have you ever seen a pregnant woman look so good as Heidi? I did watch a bit of The Bachelor too which was riveting. Well, it’s so gross it’s riveting. I just like seeing the human behavioral thing kind of at its worst in some ways. It’s like a sick pleasure.”
