Kelsey Grammer: Golden Globes’ Best Actor in TV Drama Winner

Kelsey Grammer took home the Best Actor in a TV Drama award for his role as Mayor Tom Kane in Starz’s The Boss.

The series follows Tom Kane, the mayor of Chicago, who has recently been diagnosed with a degenerative neurological disorder. Determined to remain in charge, Kane conceals the disease from everyone around him except his own physician, Dr Ella Harris.

Grammer beat out Steve Buschemi (Boardwalk Empire), Brian Cranston (Breaking Bad), Jeremy Irons (The Borgias) and Damian Lewis (Homeland).

Kate Winslet Wins Best Actress in Miniseries for Mildred Pierce

Kate Winslet has won the Golden Globes Best Actress in a Miniseries award for her role in HBO’s Mildred Pierce.

“Thank you very much,” Winslet said during her acceptance speech. “Thank you for putting me in a category with such heavy weight actresses whom I feel honored to be standing beside.

“Mildred Pierce was a definition of a team effort and I want to share this with our brilliant team leader Todd Haynes,” she continued. “Thank you for giving me this part, thank you for giving me this experience. I learned things from you that I will remember for the rest of my life.

Laura Dern: Best TV Actress in Comedy for Enlightened

Laura Dern won the Best Actress in Comedy for her role playing Amy Jellicoe in HBO’s Enlightened.

The show follows a self-destructive woman who has a spiritual awakening  and becomes determined to live an enlightened life, creating havoc at home and work.

Tina Fey (30 Rock), Amy Poehler (Parks and Recreation), Zooey Deschanel (New Girl) and Laura Linney (The Big C) were also nominated in the category.

Christopher Plummer: Golden Globes’ Best Supporting Actor Winner

Christopher Plummer nabbed the Best Supporting Actor award for his role in Beginners.

“I must praise my distinguished competitors for whom I have the greatest adoration and to whom I apologize profusely,” Plummer said during his acceptance speech.

The 82-year-old actor also praised his Beginners co-star Ewan McGregor who he joked was  “that scene stealing swine.”

“Also 21 gun salute goes to Mike Mills who’s talent and wisdom made Beginners such an enchanting story,” he said.

Plummer beat out Albert Brooks (Drive), Kenneth Branagh (My Week With Marilyn), Jonah Hill (Moneyball) and Viggo Mortensen (A Dangerous Method).

And the 2011 Golden Globe Winners Are…

The 2011 Golden Globes were handed out Saturday (Jan. 16) night at the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Beverly Hills.

The Social Network, Glee, Boardwalk Empire and The Kids Are All Right were among the night’s big winners.

Natalie Portman (Black Swan), Christian Bale (The Fighter), Annette Bening (The Kids Are All Right), Colin Firth (The King’s Speech) won top honors.

Natalie Portman Wins Best Actress Golden Globe

Natalie Portman wins the Best Actress award for her role in The Black Swan.

The pregnant star thanked her fiancé Benjamin Millepied during her speech.

“Thank you to Benjamin, who is helping me continue this creation of creating more life. Benjamin choreographed the film, and also you might remember him in the movie as the guy when they ask, ‘Would you sleep with that girl?’ And he’s like, ‘Pffsh, no.’ He’s the best actor. It’s not true: He totally wants to sleep with me!”

Portman also thanked her co-star Mila Kunis and director Darren Aronosfky.

“Darren, I met you 10 years ago, and we talked about this for the first time, and thank you for continuing to work on this movie and then to give me such a beautiful, beautiful gift with this role,” she said. “Every time we finished our takes, you would say, ‘Now do this one for yourself,’ and that gave me such beautiful inspiration as an actor to not just be amused, that I could create on my own as well. I love you so much and you’re the most wonderful and I’m so grateful to you.”

Colin Firth: Best Actor Winner

Colin Firth wins the Best Actor category for his role in the much-acclaimed The King’s Speech.

The actor joked that the award is basically what’s keeping him from a mid-life crisis.

Firth said that the win might spare him having to buy a Harley.

Jesse Eisenberg (The Social Network), James Franco (127 Hours), Ryan Gosling (Blue Valentine) and Mark Wahlberg (The Fighter) were also nominated in the category.

Melissa Leo: Best Supporting Actress for The Fighter

Melissa Leo wins the Best Supporting Actress category for her role in The Fighter.

When she won the award, Leo sprinted to the stage and yelled, “Look, mama, I got a Golden Globe!”

The actress beat out Amy Adams (The Fighter), Helena Bonham Carter (The King’s Speech), Mila Kunis (Black Swan) and Jacki Weaver (Animal Kingdom) for the award.

Chris Colfer Wins Best Supporting Actor for Glee Role

Glee’s Chris Colfer got emotional when he won the best supporting actor award for his role as gay teen Kurt Hummel.

“Most importantly, to all the amazing kids that watch our show and the kids that our show celebrates, who are constantly told ‘no’ by the people in their environments, by bullies at school that they can’t be who they are or have what they want because of who they are. Well, screw that, kids,” Colfer said in his speech.

Backstage in the press room, Colfer said: “I have my big-boy pants on right now. I’m trying not to cry! I hate to say I’m a Cinderfella, but I’ve been watching the Globes since I was an embryo. I got a Facebook message from an elementary school friend who said, ‘I remember you standing up and talking about attending the Golden Globes when we were little.’”

Christian Bale: Best Supporting Actor Winner

Christian Bale picks up the Best Supporting Actor award for his portrayal of boxer Dickie Eklund in The Fighter.

The 36-year-old actor beat out Michael Douglas (Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps), Andrew Garfield (The Social Network), Jeremy Renner (The Town) and Geoffrey Rush (The King’s Speech).

Bale thanked the cast, his wife, and his daughter who was watching from home.

Then, he shouted out to Robert De Niro as the music came back on.
