Sacha Baron Cohen No Longer Presenting at the Oscars

Sacha Baron Cohen was set to present at the upcoming Academy Awards, but has since declined to, mainly because of James Cameron.

Cohen had already planned a sketch along with Ben Stiller where Cohen would appear as a female Na’vi from Avatar and Stiller would translate. Cohen would then get frustrated because Stiller wasn’t translating correctly and then reveal that she was pregnant with Cameron’s love child and confront her baby daddy.

Oscar producer Bill Mechanic turned down the idea because he was afraid that he would offend Cameron – who’s also the Best Director nominee.

Cohen’s spokesman, Matt Labov, said:

“I hate to use the term, because it’s so ubiquitous, but there were ‘creative differences,’” said Labov. “Nothing acrimonious, but both sides felt that since they couldn’t agree, [Cohen] might as well remain in London.”
