Comedian and actor, Russell Brand, who hosted the 2009 Video Music Awards, discussed the Kanye West/Taylor Swift event, that occurred on stage when Taylor won Best Female Video. During her acceptance speech, Kanye interrupted her and said that Beyonce had the best video.

Here’s what Russell told Ryan Seacrest during his radio show:
“Because in the past I’ve made mistakes and done things a little bit daft, I know Kanye, and I know he’s a nice bloke. We all make mistakes in life.”

NYGossipGirl Exclusive: Alexis Bledel and Zach
Gilford Discuss Their New Film,
Post Grad
Nowadays, it’s difficult for a recent college grad to find a job given the economic crisis. Post Grad
opens just in time to give grads a sense of hope. With an all-star cast including Michael Keaton,
Jane Lynch, Carol Burnett, Alexis Bledel and Zach Gilford,
Post Grad will have audiences laughing
in their seats and forgetting about their own post grad life.

I’ve had the chance to sit down with Alexis (Gilmore Girls, The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants)
and Zach (Friday Night Lights) and they talked about the difference between filming a television
show and feature films, working with the comedic staff and what they would do if they didn’t go into
acting.

NYGG – Was there something about the script that attracted you to it?

ZG – I just thought that it was funny. It’s well written; it’s a good story. When I read it they had
already cast pretty much everyone else, so in my head, [I thought of] Michael Keaton, Carol Burnett,
Jane Lynch and Alexis in all these parts and it looked like a lot of fun and it would be really good.

AB – I liked that family a lot and then when they told me who they wanted to get, I could picture it
and it sounded really right, so that got me really excited about the project. I just like Kelly’s tone in
writing this.

NYGG – This film has an all-star cast, with all these comedians. What was it like on set?

AB – It was really fun. They’re all really sweet people. Carol’s really nice and Michael couldn’t be
nicer and everyone’s really friendly on set and just great to be around and work with and learn from.

ZG – I think between them and our director Vicky [Jenson] just everyone was happy on set and
happy to be there. They’re just normal down to earth people and everyone was relaxed.

NYGG – Alexis, you had that scene with Rodrigo [Santoro] where you were fooling around on an
inflatable couch, what was that like filming with him?

AB – The inflatable couch was very pesky because, it’s squeaky and had to topple over and it’s
always so practical, but I don’t know, it was great.

NYGG – Zach, you sing and play guitar in the film, how did you prepare for that?

ZG – Yeah, it was kind of daunting. I had to spend a couple of days in a recording booth working on
that. I had to then get up in front of all these people and lip-sync to myself. I almost would have
rather done it live.

NYGG – And is it something that you want to pursue?

ZG – No, I would never pursue that. It was scary, I wouldn’t want to do that again.

NYGG – You were both on television shows and obviously film and television are different, but
which do you prefer more?

AB – They are such different experiences. Being on a show, you have the consistency of constant
work, which is really nice and you get to know everybody really well, but I really like change and I
like going from set to set and having a fresh start; meeting new people and playing a new
character.

ZG – I would have to agree with her. As long as it’s a good set and you’re enjoying what you’re
doing. I’m fortunate enough that everything I worked on has been a good experience.

NYGG – While watching the film, I noticed that Ryden was a different character then others you’ve
played like Rory from Gilmore Girls or Lena from Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants where they
were shy girls, but Ryden is confident and sassy. Did you enjoy playing someone that you didn’t
typically play before?

AB – Yeah I did, so much. I definitely like that about Ryden and tried to bring that out.

NYGG – If you guys didn’t go into acting, what would you do?

ZG – I’d do some sort of education, like outdoor education with kids. I love working with kids, it’s a
lot of fun. It’s fun teaching so that’s probably what I would be doing.

AB – I think I would probably go back to school at first, because I have no idea what else I would
do. I would have to figure it out.
