Blu-ray | DVD Review: Don Jon

Don Jon is a great triumph for Joseph Gordon-Levitt’s directorial debut.

Gordon-Levitt, who also wrote the script and stars in the film, gave an honest portrayal of relationships and the unrealistic expectations of porn.

Don Jon follows Don (Gordon-Levitt), an old-fashioned guy who goes to church every week, goes to confession and spends quality time with his family. He also goes clubbing and takes home girls with no strings attached. However, things change once he sets his eyes on Barbara (Scarlett Johansson) and realizes that his old no strings attached mantra won’t work with her.

The film boasts a terrific cast, including Julianne Moore, who plays Esther, a woman Jon meets, Tony Danza, who plays his outspoken father and Brie Larson, whose character speaks volumes without really saying anything.

Gordon-Levitt’s directing is confident and shines through the film. Don Jon is genuine, edgy and in-your-face, but in the best way.

First Look: Anthony Hopkins as Alfred Hitchcock

Check out a completely unrecognizable Anthony Hopkins, who has transformed into the legendary director Alfred Hitchcock for Fox Searchlight’s upcoming film Hitchcock.

Principal photography has begun for the biographical drama, which will be directed by Sacha Gervasi.

The film was formerly titled Alfred Hitchcock and the Making of Psycho.

As you can see, Hopkins bares a striking resemblance to Hitchcock and the make-up has clearly been done very well.

Hitchcock centers around the love story between Hitchcock and his wife and partner Alma Reville, who will be played by Helen Mirren. The film also takes place during the troublesome production of the horror classic Psycho.

The stellar cast also includes Scarlett Johansson, Jessica Biel, Toni Collette, Danny Huston, Michael Stuhlbarg and Kurtwood Smith.

Scarlett Johansson to Star in Iron Man 3

Scarlett Johansson is confirmed to reprise her roles as the Black Widow in Iron Man 3.

Although no new casting details have emerged, Johansson will be returning alongside Don Cheadle and Gwyneth Paltrow.

According to writer-director, Shane Black, “the storyline will be similar to a Tom Clancy-thriller with Iron Man fighting real world villains.”

“The studio wasn’t happy with the result of Iron Man 2,” Black said in a previous interview. “That pretty much came about due to a rushed production schedule in an attempt to hit a release date rather than simply make a good film, but I digress. Iron Man 3 will not be another, ‘two men in iron suits fighting each other.’”
